Well my dearests, the end is near....or for you all as readers, I suppose the beginning is near. I'm writing from my hotel room because the local Star Bucks where I chose to have my final dinner did not have wi-fi. Oh Star Bucks. I did not go there because I like it nor because I support the Star Bucks mission. I went there out of shear convenience...and shame on me as an American I know it. But meeting time for our yellow fever shots is at 7:15 AM tomorrow, and we need to have eaten something beforehand. So I got a sandwhich and some tea for dinner and a slice of banana bread for the morning.
I feel much much better after having talked to people who share many of the same hopes and fears as myself; and I feel much more ready to do this. From what I understand, depending upon where my site is located, I will have as much as weekly access to internet and as little as monthly, tbd. Also, there will in all likelihood be No internet until after training, which should last for about the next 9 weeks.
I'll miss you all and I look forward to your letters. ;-) And now, I'm off to enjoy my last hot shower and hopefully get a good night's rest.
